Who We Are

A Trusted Voice for Sudanese Victorians

The Sudanese Community Association of Victoria (SCAV) is the peak representative body for the Sudanese community in Victoria, Australia. Established with the goal of fostering unity, cultural preservation, and community empowerment, SCAV has grown to serve over 1,000 members across Melbourne and regional Victoria.

We work tirelessly to ensure our members have access to essential services, cultural programs, social activities, and a strong collective voice in Australian society. Our diverse committee of dedicated volunteers brings together leaders from across the Sudanese community to drive positive change.

Our Journey

A History of Service

2000

Foundation

SCAV was established by a group of Sudanese community leaders in Melbourne to address the growing needs of Sudanese migrants and refugees settling in Victoria.

2005

Community Growth

The association grew to 200+ members, launching our first cultural festival and youth mentoring program in the northern suburbs of Melbourne.

2010

Expanding Services

Introduced women's empowerment programs, elder support services, and began formal advocacy with local and state government.

2015

Peak Body Recognition

Recognised as the peak body for Sudanese Victorians. Partnered with multicultural organizations and expanded to regional Victoria.

2020

Digital Transformation

Adapted to COVID-19 with virtual events, online membership, and digital community services. Launched mental health support programs.

2025

1,000+ Members

Surpassed 1,000 active members. Running 15+ programs, 50+ events annually, and advocating for Sudanese community issues at all levels of government.
